CPW 4-2 Team Indians in Blue
Saturday 03-01-09, 5pm
Venue: Compassvale Sec Sch field
Man-of-the-Match: M. Hafiz
After a comfortable 4-0 win in their last game, CPW players were on a high to record another win this week as they travel east to Compassvale Sec.
But when they had the first look upon their opponent, fear struck them first as the opponents were bigger and had more numbers. Still, they had to play since the match was fixed.
First choice keeper Azmil was on national duty again and Azmi had to play in another soccer match therefore Team Woodlands keeper Syazwan was being called upon. Both right-backs was missing for the match and was replaced by Ellyas. Yusof was injured and Captain, Yazmil, had other commitments therefore Alif had to partner Remi's father in the heart of the defence.
First-half saw CPW give away the ball far too cheaply to the opponents who was not only bigger, but faster as well. They had players who are faster than Noman and Hanafi. Although the opponents hold the possession more, CPW got the first goal. First corner of the game taken by Hanafi aim towards the near post was met by M. Hafiz. 1-0 to CPW. Soon after, Alif was forced out of the game after he was being tackled. Ridzwan replaced him and Saifuddin had to play in defence. The opponents got 2 goals back before half-time, which should be more if not for some fantastic saves from the keeper and missed shots. First-half ended 2-1 to the opponents.
Second half starts and the opponent send in a whole new 11 which CPW took full advantage. With fresh pair of legs from Asyraf TP, Dzhuri and Shameel, CPW went into attack. Soon enough, M. Hafiz level the score after receiving the ball from Remi's free-kick, showed some skill in front of goal before slotting it into the empty net. Then, a throw-in from Hanafi and Remi shoot it into the goal to give CPW the lead. The opponent had a lot of chances, most of them hitting the post. CPW ended the game after Dzhuri uses his speed to past through the opponents before feeding it for Shameel to give CPW the win. 4-2 it ends in CPW favor. Tough luck for the opponents. What CPW really need now is full attendance therefore there is no need to shift players into a position they do not really like to play in.
